And so do we! Like parade floats, RV’s exited the resort signaling the end of Snow Bird Season. Betty watched in anticipation knowing her turn to motor out was just days away! She recognizes the signs…her tires feel heavy as Greg loads patio furniture into the “basement” and I stuff the refrigerator. Finally, a spa day (for her, not me!) compliments of a mobile, sudsy hydromassage service. Bright and sparkly, she’s ready to hit the road.
This morning, travel day 1, we woke before the alarm. With last minute preparations complete, Betty’s 400hp diesel engine rumbled alive after its winter hibernation. I love that sound! It means we are off to new places and unknown adventures.
Our 1,050 mile journey from Southern California to West Yellowstone, MT will take a leisurely 4 days. The city’s webcams show snow slowly melting and weather forecasters promise toasty temperatures in the high 40’s. Mother Nature gifted us with a “shorts and flip-flops” winter smattered with a few “jeans and tennies” days so we can deal with colder weather for a bit! Besides, we’ll be in Yellowstone!
We depart with a scrapbook of newly created family memories that will grow more precious as years go by. Living near Greg’s parents for the past few months, sharing meals together, watching sports, toasting sunsets, and reveling with visiting uncles & aunts, sisters and cousins proved to be one of the best gifts of our freewheeling lifestyle. Plus, those Wagstaffs are a fun-loving bunch!
So farewell, So. California! We frequented familiar places but missed Mickey and his Disney gang this time. Adventured to new places…San Juan Capistrano, San Diego’s U.S.S. Midway, Temecula’s wine country (great find!) to name a few. Took “toad” trips to San Jose, CA and Las Vegas, NV. As always, our most treasured memories will always be family and friends we connect with in our travels and those “riding along” on our blog! Thank you for your encouragement, traveling to meet us on the road and opening your homes when we visit on short notice!!
For the next 3 days we’ll be following the Yellowstone Road…
Safe Travels.

Hi Gary,
It would be great to meet up with you and Penny somewhere on the road again! It’s the perfect job…working in a gift shop and meeting new people! Are you sure you won’t come up with more beautiful house projects to keep you busy next year? Love seeing the photos of your handiwork!
Take care,
Rosanne
